A little Billy Joel

She's Got a Way

She's got a way about her
I don't know what it is
But I know that I can't live without her
She's got a way of pleasin'
I don't know what it is
But there doesn't have to be a reason anyway
She's got a smile that heals me
I don't know why it is
But I have to laugh when she reveals me
She's got a way of talkin'
I don't know why it is
But it lifts me up when we are walkin' anywhere

She comes to me when I'm feelin' down
Inspires me without a sound
She touches me and I get turned around
She's got a way of showin'
How I make her feel
And I find the strength to keep on goin'

She's got a light around her
And ev'rywhere she goes
A million dreams of love surround her ev'rywhere

She comes to me when I'm feelin' down
Inspires me without a sound
She touches me and I get turned around

She's got a smile that heals me
I don't know why it is
But I have to laugh when she reveals me
She's got a way about her
I don't know what it is,
But I know that I can't live without her anyway

I was feeling inspired, so sue me.

On a side note, I FINALLY got to visit with David and Erin Rutledge this past weekend. Erin answered the door looking just a cute as she could be with a new hairdo and lost weight to boot, so Go Erin! David was kind enough to let me try out Katamari Damacy. It's one of those crazy Japanese games that makes no sense, so naturally I loved it immediately. If you care to read David's review of it, you can find it here. The premise is you're playing the son of the King of the Cosmos (I'm guessing here) and you have to roll up things in your ball, the katamari, and try and help your pop restore the universe to what it was after he fell asleep and let things go awry. It's a very fun game, and it's funny how very Japanese this game is. It's nothing like Incredible Crisis but still a fun play. Thank you David for showing me the greatest stuff from the other side of the pond. You will always be my main Japanese Hookup.

But I didn't get to try the green tea Melty Kiss! Maybe next time, neh?

Cool news for those in the know

Frank Miller's "Sin City" will be coming out soon into cinemas across American. If you haven't already, please check out the trailer here. I'm not a big Jessical Alba fan, and the trailer doesn't even show the talented Maria Bello, but man, does it kick nine kinds of tail. Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Benicio Del Toro, Michael 'freakin' Madsen!! This is a going to be a good movie and I will punch you in the face if you disagree with me.

Meanwhile, Peter Sellers is rolling in his grave at the travisty that will be The Pink Panther. Come on Jean Reno! You're better than this. Between this and 'Just Visiting', his time travel movie, I'm becoming worried for you. You've got good movies under your belt so I know you've got the chops. Now quit staring in crap movies and start doing more 'Ronin' and 'Wasabi' films. The GOOD kind. As for Steve Martin, his hit and miss stuff is just weird. For every 'L.A. Story' there is a "Cheaper By The Dozen". Sigh. Don't tell me you peaked with the Jerk, Steve! The more indie you try to become, the more main stream crap you pull out and shove in our plates. Grrr!

Last movie watched was The Thin Man and it was everything I remember the first time I watched it. It makes me want to get the rest of the series. William Powell made movies the way you are supposed to make them. Light-hearted and fun but still with a serious side. What an actor! What a role! Nick and Nora Charles, the jet-setting dectective/couple before Hart-To-Hart even made it on the air. I have no comment on Simon & Simon... :-)

Revenge of the Geeks!!

Ok, I knew there had to be a better test out there for us geeks, not just a nerd test. So after a little googling (which should have gotten me points right there) I found The Geek Test!

I scored a very nice 62.52465% which would classify me as an extreme geek. I am very proud of this number, as it just shows that I am defined by my lifestyle, and that lifestyle is very geeky. Between comic books, role-playing, anime, anime conventions, graphing calculators, reading nerd books and just general weirdness, I am without a doubt a geek.

And really, is that such a bad thing? I should take a second to point out that my sister Brooke thinks that convention I go to every year is for Chinese Mythology. And although that does sound kind of neat, that is not what it is. Although I do know I was born in the year of the Tiger and that this year is the Rooster year. But that is more calendar stuff that geek stuff I guess.

Anyway, I want to know what you scored people! Let me know!

Revenge of the Nerds!

Okie dokie silly-Oh. Patrick clued me in to this nerd test that can be found here. I got a repsectable 77%, but Pat got me down by getting a very promising 79%. We both agree that there must be some curve for some questions as he had to have answered some much better than I (being the math nerd that he is) and so for him to only get an extra 2 points seems silly.

Anyway, in other news I have allergies to my borrowed cat. I left town this weekend and came into the apartment for an hour this evening and now I'm sitting here at work with itchy eyes and cat hair on my face. Ick...

Good buddies Adam and Paul IM'd me tonight, whom I haven't talked to since before Thanksgiving, so to talk to two really good friends made my night tonight. Also talked to Bib, which is always a treat. She has to work in the morning, but she stays up just to chat with me for a bit. All three are treasured. *gushes*

Quick question: How hard is it to watch Napoleon Dynamite and NOT talk like him afterwards? It's been a day and a half and I'm STILL talking like him! Gosh!

Links and lots of 'em!

I thought I would take a moment and posts everybody's blog out there at I read. There are some good ones out there and by golly, we should share what we have with those that don't. I'm not saying you have to read them all, but if you stop by and give 'em a looksee then I don't see the harm in it.

Starting in the order I read them: Bib, Patrick, JuddHole, Pork Tornado, Dusty (Pork Tornado's personal site), Michael, Paul, Smitty, David, Adam, Heather, Alton Brown, Aaron, Scott and Rusty. I should point out that these are the order in which they are saved in my favorites, so it's not like anyone is prefered over another person.

AB, Judd and Dusty have no knowledge of my existance but I enjoy their stuff nonetheless. Heather just posted here one day, so I thought I would give her a bit of advert since she's pretty cool. The rest are personal friends. 'Nuff said. Paul, Smitty and David just update on a whim, and I think both Paul and Smitty have stopped altogether, but what the hey, I thought I would put their blogs out there anyway, in hopes that it will fuel their desire to blog more.

I want a Penny Arcade blanket but I can't justify why really.

How much fun would an Aquatic Pod Suite be?

Am I wrong in thinking this is funny?

I have never wanted to beat a man as much as I want to beat this guy. Thank goes to Patrick for getting me his 'cook' book for Christmas.

A week later...

Well here I am a week later into 2005 and not much has happened. Brigette got stuck in Tulsa for a day longer than she wanted, but I didn't mind the company at all. We had some ice for a few days, and even my parking lot in front of the apartments still has traces of ice on the ground. I wonder if it will hit worse later this winter. I like the cold weather, but just not fond of the ice that comes with it. It's true what they say about Oklahoma and Texas. We can take the heat and the cold, but God forbid you give us some ice to drive in, you might as well shut the entire state down.

Have I mentioned I love my girlfriend? That she's the greatest? No? Well then let me set the record straight right here and now, in a public forum. I love Brigette Anne with as much love as a person can love another. Maybe even more, I don't know if I can accurately measure my love for her, like in say pounds or quarts or whatever... but if I could, rest assured that it would be many many pounds and many many quarts. Yeah, I'm getting sappy here. That's just me. I'm that way. Deal.

No links today. Kind of down about something. Maybe tonight.

F1r5+!!1!! W00t!

Happy New Years everybody! May I take a moment and reflect?

I have had a lot of changes since the beginning of 2004 one year ago. Some good, some bad, some life-changing. But none more so than having healthy family and friends. I'm grateful for everybody being safe and happy for the most part. There's really nothing more I could have asked for.

"Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days of auld lang syne?"

Yeah, there are more words to that song, but does anyone really care?

My resolutions:
To blog about more than Coast to Coast topics
Try and stay awake when visiting friends. :-)
Eating healthier and attempting to get some exercise every now and then.
To try and stay awake more at work (big one!)

Ah heck, I know I'll break every one of these, probably by the end of the week...
